George Milton Mason

George Milton Mason, age 62 of Cadillac, passed away on June 6, 2011 at the Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born on June 6, 1949 in the state of Georgia to Myron an Irene Jane (Barnette) Mason. He married Grace DeBoer on June 20, 1970 at McBain Christian Reformed Church. He had been an environmental engineer at the Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, Minn. for three years and prior to that he had worked at Avon Automotive for over 17 years. He loved children and was warm and loving grandfather. He enjoyed camping and riding bicycle. He also worked as many hours that he could. He is survived by his wife, Grace Mason of Cadillac; son, Greg (Juliana) Mason of Jordon, Minn.; three grandchildren, Caitlynn Maree Mason and Isaac Mason both of Cadillac, and Ian Sabo of Ohio; siblings, Lee (Pat) Corn of Cadillac, Mary (Robert) Phelps of Cadillac, Myron Mason Jr. of Cadillac, and Warren (Marcie) Mason of Byron Center; in-laws, Susie Mason of Fennville and Al (Christine) DeBoer of McBain; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Beau (Martin) Mason; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Fena DeBoer. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Temple Hill Baptist Church in Cadillac, with Rev. Jack Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2011. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Burkholder Funeral Home in McBain. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
