George Anthony Salemi Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

George Anthony Salemi of Cadillac passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at home after a courageous battle with ALS. He was 73. George was born on March 16, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois to Samuel R. & Angelina (Rubino) Salemi. George graduated from Sycamore High School in 1968, where he met his wife Mary Ann (VanNatta) Salemi of 52 years. George was the owner and operator of Salemi Development which included Apartments, and 2 Drive-In restaurants Big Ray’s located in DeKalb, Illinois and Graffiti’s located in Alanson, Michigan. George retired in Sarasota, Florida where he enjoyed cooking, golfing, fishing, spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Salemi of Cadillac, MI, three children: Jon (Joanne) Salemi of Holiday, Florida, Jodi (Jarek) DeHart of Myakka City, Florida, and Molly (Robert) Sauder of Cadillac, Michigan, five grandchildren: Sophia (Salemi), Gianna, Jake, Emmery (DeHart), Callen (Sauder). Three brothers, Ron, Sam & Louie along with three sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father,mother, and in-laws. George was treasured and adored by his family, many great memories were made throughout the years on family vacations, at his Drive-In, time spent in Petoskey, Michigan on Walloon Lake boating and laughing around the campfire. He will continue to be cherished and thought of often. Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, July 1, 2022, at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cadillac, Michigan with a family gathering to follow.
