MCBAIN - Gladys June Peterson, age 82, of Marion, formerly of LeRoy, went home to be with the Lord on April 6, 2011 at Pleasant Ridge Assisted Living in Marion. She was born on July 1, 1928 in Grand Rapids to Ralph and Sena (Slot) Boerema. She married Donald R. Peterson on November 4, 1950 at the Howard City Baptist Church, and he preceded her in death on June 6, 1996. Gladys was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, collecting rocks and seashells, playing the piano and listening to gospel quartets. She also loved to travel and enjoyed going to Branson, Mo. Gladys is survived by her children, Donna (Larry) Peterson-Sergent of McDonald, Ohio, Daryl (Jan) Peterson of McBain, Dex (Brenda) Peterson of Hot Springs, Ark., Douglas (Mary) Peterson of LeRoy, DeWayne (Sally) Peterson of LeRoy and Donald A. (Karen) Peterson of Westmont, Ill.; grandchildren, Peter (Jackie) Peterson, Micah (Shanda) Peterson, Michael Peterson, Bryan Peterson, Alan Peterson, Maya Peterson, Isaac Peterson, Jonathon Peterson, Gracie Peterson, Jacki Peterson and Destinee Peterson; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Noah and Gavin Peterson; siblings, Jerry (Edith) Boerema of Grand Rapids, Ray (Millie) Boerema of Sand Lake and Ev Zwighuizen of Hudsonville; and in-law, Arlene Eckert of Sand Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Ken Boerema and Shirley (Richard) Knauss; and brother-in-law, Paul Zwighuizen. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Burkholder Funeral Home in McBain, with Rev. Keith Mannes officiating. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in LeRoy.
