Harvey Lutke Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Harvey Lutke, of Marion, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Cadillac Mercy Hospital. He was 85. He was born on August 3, 1926, to Tom R. and Jennie (Schoo) Lutke at the Lutke family home in Clam Union Township in Missaukee County. He married Ruth Dick on February 4, 1949, at the Prosper Chapel. He farmed all his working years until he retired in 1989 after he developed a problem with his heart. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in France and Germany. He was a member of the Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church, where he served as an elder and deacon for many years, and was a Sunday school superintendent and teacher. He was a co-operative board member for 25 years, USDA for many years, on the Farm Bureau board and the board at the Northern Michigan Christian School in McBain. He enjoyed traveling and taking bus trips, reading farm magazines, rides around the neighborhood in his pickup truck and going to his grandkids\' basketball games. He loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Lutke of Marion; children, Terry (Sandy) Lutke of McBain, Ken (Toni) Lutke of Hudsonville, Bruce (Nancy) Lutke of Zeeland, and Karen (Mark) DeZeeuw of Falmouth; 11 grandchildren, Amy (Ben) Jacobs, Tom and Kevin Lutke, Troy, Anna and Hope Lutke, Chrissy, Bryce and Bryan Lutke, Eric and Amanda Dezeeuw; a sister, Ruth Schepers of Hudsonville; in-laws, Bernie Ebels, Carl and Karlene Dick, Duane and Carolyn Dick, all of Falmouth. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen (Mike) Boven and Genevieve Lutke; daughter-in-law, Sharon Lutke; his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Johanna Dick, and in-laws, Harold Ebels and Donald Schepers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. Duane J. Timmermans officiating. Burial will be at the Vogel Center Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Burkholder Funeral Home in McBain, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church or the Northern Michigan Christian School.
