Helen Lucy Putnam of Cadillac passed away Tuesday morning, May 7, 2013 at Green Acres Retirement Living. She was 100. She was born May 16, 1912 in Cadillac to Michael and Emma (Martel) Long. She married Bernard C. Putnam and he preceded her in death in 1998. Helen had been a waitress for many years. She was an excellent homemaker and extraordinarily generous. At 100 years old she still aspired to open a chocolate factory. She is survived by her daughters: Barbara Dowlyn of Lucas, Sheila Baker of Swartz Creek and Kathryn (Steve) Reynolds of Grand Blanc; 8 grandchildren 20 great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren and a sister, Betty Kahlor of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; her son, Stacey Dewayne Roper; four brothers: Raymond, Pat, Clarence and Roy Long and a sister, Blanche. Friends may meet the family from 5-7 PM on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 13, 2013 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac with Msgr. Francis J. Murphy as celebrant. Friends may also meet the family from 10- 11 AM prior to the service. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cadillac.
