Herm Liedeke

Herm Liedeke of McBain went home to be with his Lord January 19, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 74. He was born on May 26, 1936 at Wheeler, Michigan to Herman & Fern (Hudson) Liedeke and they preceded him in death. Herm retired after working 30 years as a route driver and was a member of the Teamster\'s #406 of Saginaw. After retirement he drove school bus for the Tri County Handicapped for over 23 years and he dearly loved those children. Herm was a member of Rehoboth Reformed Church in Lucas. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards, doing yard work, planting trees, playing on the tractor and most of all doing things with his grandchildren family and friends. He loved his wife and was a good husband. He will leave behind a legacy of having a good sense of humor and being a friend to all. On September 24, 1953 at Ithaca, Michigan he married the former Phyllis Guthrie (his wife of 57 years) and she survives him along with children: Deborah (Charles) Lindsey of McBain, Leslie Liedeke (& special friend Carol) of McBain, Cheri (Mark) Shepherd of Dorr and Carrie (Mark) Priest of Suttons Bay; nine grandchildren: RaeLe (Rich) Stinger of Jenison, April & Jeremy Liedeke of Cadillac, Steven Liedeke (& friend Brigette) of Jenison, Erick (Meegan) Lindsey of Raleigh, NC, Connor & Dani Priest of Suttons Bay and Riley & Jory Shepherd of Dorr; three great grandchildren: Elizabeth & Olivia Stinger and Ireland Liedeke; in-laws: Edna & Jack Martin of Harrison, Ralph Bolt of Alma, Florence & Rudy Franceti of Merrill, and Duane (Kathei) Guthrie of Grayling and many other relatives. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Fredrick Otto Liedeke, father-in-law and mother-in-law Harold & Ruth Guthrie and in-laws: Elsie Guthrie and Donna Bolt. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Rehoboth Reformed Church in Lucas with Reverend Dave Sterk officiating. Burial will be at Lucas Cemetery in Missaukee County. Visitation will be Saturday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rehoboth Reformed Church Building Fund.
