Isaiah C. “Ike†Walters of Cadillac passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the home of his son and daughter in law. He was 97. He was born on August 16, 1914 in Barryton, Michigan to Andrew I. & Mary W. (Wynn) Walters. He married the former Maude Smith on August 22, 1938 in Cadillac and she preceded him in death on April 18, 1993. Ike worked as a mechanic and worked in the oil rigs for Sun Oil Co. He was also a truck driver for Interstate Freight and worked for Western Concrete Company. Ike retired as an operating engineer. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #324. He enjoyed going to the senior center for lunch and going to the Moose Lodge with Larry and Kim. He also enjoyed spending time on his pontoon boat on Lake Cadillac and mornings at the Frosty Cup. In his younger years Ike enjoyed Coon dogs and racing hot rods. He is survived by his son Larry (Kim) Walters of Cadillac and granddaughter Tonya (Darren) Sloan of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Maude and eleven brothers and sisters. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Salvation Army in Cadillac with Captain Mark Vance officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Center of Cadillac. Arrangements by Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
