Jack L. Galvanek Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jack L. Galvanek of Cadillac passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at his home. He was 75. He was born on February 5, 1937 in Cadillac to Edward & Alice A. (Sours) Galvanek and they preceded him in death. On May 26, 1962 in Boon he married the former Shirley M. Sharp and she preceded him in death on September 28, 1999. Mr. Galvanek had served in the National Guard. Jack worked most of his life in road construction with Thompson & McCully and Ann Arbor Construction prior to being a founder/co-owner of Galvanek\'s Auto Auction in 1997. He then returned to road construction with Elmer\'s Crane & Dozer and retired in 2000. Prior to Jack\'s declining health he was active with many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, playing cards, golf carts riding with his friends and he took special pride in his woodworking skills making special things for his children, grandchildren and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Comfort Keepers Home Health Care staff and Bert Mohler for being so kind and caring to Jack in his final years. Survivors include his children: Craig Galvanek (Peggy Romatz), Chery (Rob) Campbell, Sandy (Todd) Golnick, and Kari (Kurt) Comstock all of Cadillac; grandchildren: Kasie (Barett), Carter (Heather), Tyler, Selena, Brittany (Adam), Clayton, Chloe, Ariel, Dylan and Owen; great grandchildren: Konner, Lakai and Grayson; his brother, Dennis (Elaine) Galvanek and sister, Barbara (Steve) Hobbins all of Cadillac. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Reverend Lloyd Jewett officiating. Burial will be at Selma Township Cemetery in Wexford County. Friends may meet the family from 11:00 AM until time of services Monday.
