Jacob Felix "Jack" Boike

Jacob Felix "Jack†Boike of Cadillac passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. He was 87. Jack was born May 30, 1927 in Flint to Jacob J. and Mary M. (Kaczmarek) Boike. Mr. Boike graduated from Flint Northern High School. He went on to attend the University of Wisconsin, Marquette University and Oberlin College where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He then earned his Master's Degree in business administration from Western Michigan University. Mr. Boike was involved in ROTC and went to Naval Flight School and served during World War II. After returning from the service he worked for General Motors Chevrolet for over 10 years. Mr. Boike worked at Kysor for 27 years before retiring from there. He enjoyed flying, skiing, bicycling and was an avid hockey fan. Mr. Boike married the former Ina Barclay and she survives him along with sons, Randy (Sue) Boike of McBain and Kevin Boike of Hermosa Beach, California; grandsons, Matthew Boike and Michael Boike and brothers, Martin (Mary Ann) Boike of Gaylord, Tom Boike of Alma and Jim (Priscilla) Boike of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leo Boike. A celebration of life with family and friends will take place at a later date. Grandpa Jack wanted to say, "Good bye for now.†In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cadillac Area Hockey Association Scholarship Fund.
