James A. Cockeram Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James A. Cockeram of Cadillac died Saturday morning, May 21, 2011 at his home. He was 60. He was born on April 20, 1951 in Cadillac to Alfred E. & Juanita (Wortley) Cockeram. He graduated from Cadillac High School in 1969 and from 1971 to 1973 he served in the United States Army during Vietnam. Jim had been employed at Giant Way for 20 years and had also worked at Four Winns, Grahek\'s Greenery, and Piranha Hose in Cadillac. He had also served as a volunteer Fire Fighter for Haring Township for 20 years. He loved his dogs and enjoyed wood working and watching birds. On April 18, 1986 in Cadillac he married the former Kimberly Kaye Strom and she survives him along with three sons: James â€œJamieâ€ (Lisa) Cockeram, Jason (Ruby) Cockeram all of Lake City and Martin (Jessica) Cockeram of Cadillac; 6 grandchildren: Coty Moore, Brittany Cockeram, Emily Cockeram, Kaylee Cockeram, Madison Cockeram, and Payton Cockeram; his father Alfred (Meda) Cockeram of Harrietta; brothers: Terry Dortha) Cockeram of Cadillac and Robin (Kathy) Cockeram of Mesick; sisters: Lorena â€œMarâ€ (Jack) Tompkins of Cadillac and Ruthann Little of Florida; three sisters-in-law: Cheryl (Ken) Haysmer of Cadillac, Cathy (Mark) Savage of South Haven and Rhonda (Jack) Wood of Lake City; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Cockeram on Jan. 14, 2004. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Pastor Bruce Rose officiating.
