Jean Lois Malmstrom Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jean Lois Malmstrom of Cadillac died Thursday morning, February 24, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. She was 77. She was born in Chicago on March 25, 1933 to Henry & Anna Marie Sophia (Berg) Zacharias and they preceded her in death. She married Oscar Smith Jensen on July 2, 1949 in Tustin and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1969. Jean has lived in the Cadillac area since 1948 and had been employed at Lakeview Lutheran Manor and Mercy Hospital as a nurse\'s aide, Kickaway Garments in Cadillac, and Wolverine Shoes in Big Rapids. She enjoyed fishing, baking, cake decorating, snowmobiling, camping, traveling, and going to the casino. Her greatest love was her family, grandchildren and her Shih Tzu dogs, Chloe and Dolly. On October 25, 1969 in Cadillac she married Duwayne D. Malmstrom and he survives her along with her children: Brian (Dawn) Jensen of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Deborah Jensen, Janet (Gary) McDill, Sandra (Patrick) Helmboldt, and Vicky (Robert) Armstrong all of Cadillac; Â½ son, Randy (Patty) Fredericks of Cheboygan; 8 grandchildren: Monica (Scott) Smith, Heather (Paul) Gravlyn, Dennis Behrns, Jaime Jensen, Chadley (Jackie) Jensen, Dave, Anthony, and Craig Fredericks; 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Margaret) Zacharias of Naperville, IL; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her first husband she was preceded in death by a son, William Peter Jensen, 4 sisters: Evelyn Moline, Marian Leubsher, Dolores Dixon, and Anna Dolehide and 2 brothers: Henry â€œHankâ€ Zacharias and Edward Zacharias. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Reverend James Helmboldt officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. Friends may meet the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: Mercy Hospice, Salvation Army, or American Cancer Society.
