John A. Winchester Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John A. Winchester of Manton passed away Sunday morning, January 12, 2014 at his home. He was 53. He was born on June 14, 1960 in Cadillac to Ronald L. & June E. (Rydstrom) Winchester and they have preceded him in death. John had battle health problems for the past 4 years and prior to that he loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, builder and woodworker. He loved to cook and had BBQ's every chance he could and would find new and different ways to prepare foods. John was famous for his jerky and salami. His last employment was at Four Winns where he had been employed for 17 Ã‚Â½ years before becoming a devoted full time stay at home grandfather helping raise his oldest grandson. He will always be missed, but forever in the hearts of his family and friends. Whomever he met he didn't take long to become friends with. John was one of a kind and would do anything for his friends or anyone in need and all they had to do is ask. On May 27, 1979 in Cadillac he married the former Doreen M. Clark and she survives him along with a daughter, Susan Winchester (Jeremy Brainerd) of Marion; 4 grandchildren: Brandon, Bryce, Chandler and Laci; a brother, Tony Winchester (Darcy Ashbay) of Cadillac; 2 sisters: Sally Nottage and Debbie Ester (Buck Landons) all of Traverse City; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Capaccio. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Reverend David McMahon officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
