Julie Ann Powell

Julie Ann Powell of Boon passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at her home. She was 50. She was born January 14, 1964 in Midland, Michigan to William and Jean (Foster) Sprenger. Julie graduated as salutatorian from Coleman High School in 1982. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems from Ferris State University in 1986. Julie worked for Trinity Health Care and Munson Medical Center as a computer systems analyst at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac for 28 years. She was a dedicated employee and was highly respected by her peers and coworkers. Julie attended NorthernLight Church of Cadillac. She enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking and attending family get togethers. She was an avid supporter of youth baseball, high school orchestra and drama club. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, daughter in law and friend, who handled her battle with pancreatic cancer with grace, class and dignity. On November 4, 1995 she married Randy A. Powell and he survives her along with their children, Dustin A. Powell and Lindsey J. Powell all of Boon; her parents, William and Jean Sprenger of Coleman, Michigan; brother, Mark (Laura) Sprenger of Sanford, Michigan; sister, Dawn (Doug) Loose of Houston, Texas; in laws, Rodger and Pamala Powell of Cadillac; brother in law, Steven Powell of Cadillac; and nieces and nephews: Kelsey (Marcus) Covert, Alayna Sprenger and Samantha and Nathan Loose. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Pastor John Mellish officiating. Friends may meet the family Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
