Karen Rae Bennetts of Cadillac died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was 73. She was born on August 11, 1938 in Berkley, Michigan to James & Lila (Laur) Collins and they preceded her in death. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, collecting dolls and spending time with her family. On April 5, 1958 in Berkley she married Robert C. Bennetts and he survives her along with their children: Robin Debeau of Lapeer, Shannon (Rick) Joy of North Branch, Lila (Mike) Smith of Lapeer, Jonna (Mike) Roopas of Canton, GA, Kelly (Greg) Morey of Columbiaville, MI, Bobby Bennetts of Battle Creek, and Karie (Bob) Griffin of North Branch; Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; 4 sisters: Sharon (Bob) Rich of Novi, Nancy Dennis of Royal Oak, Vivian Abbey of Midland, and Charlotte (Hank) Popkes of Mount Pleasant; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers: Albert, Bernard, Dick, Marley, and David Collins and a sister, Ella Loyer and a great granddaughter, Sweet baby Katherine Schank. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Reverend Brian Seifert officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to family to be used toward the Society for Crippled Children.
