Karl K. "Ken" Forsman

April 23, 1932 - March 18, 2014

Karl K. "Ken†Forsman of Manton passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at his home. He was 81. He was born April 23, 1932 in Cadillac, Michigan to Reuban Floyd and Irene Elizabeth (Wittenstrom) Forsman and they preceded him in death. Ken graduated from Cadillac High School in 1950 and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. He then graduated from Wayne State University Mortuary School. Ken went on to work as a funeral director in Lansing for many years. He also worked in construction, owning his own company and building homes. Ken also owned Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Diamondale, Michigan. Ken was very creative; he enjoyed woodworking and stained glass. He was also musical and played in the Clam Lake Band. He was a past president of the Scandinavian Society of Lansing and a member of the Scandinavian Society of Cadillac. Ken was a very kind man and would be proud to say, "I did it my way.†The family would like to extend a thank you to Mary Hallett, Debbie and Jack Dontje and Mercy Hospice for all the care they provided. He is survived by his children, John R. Forsman of Washington, Kristina S. (Gene) Sawdon of Chattanooga, Tennessee, David L. (Debrah) Forsman of Canton, Michigan and James K. Forsman of Ypsilanti; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Forsman. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. His final resting place will be Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice. An online guestbook is available at www.petersonfh.com.
