Katherine Thomason Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Katherine F. Thomason of Cadillac passed away Wednesday morning, September 21, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. She was 55. She was born August 18, 1956 in Grand Rapids to Frank W. & Mary P. (Lazar) Lipar and they preceded her in death. Kathy was a 1974 graduate of Mesick High School and went to work at K-Mart from 1974 until 1996 when she opened a Daycare Center at her home in Meauwataka. She then went to work at the Little Red School House in Cadillac for 5 years. Kathy also worked at Peebles in Cadillac and then went back to owning the Fun-A-Torium Daycare and also was a partner and bookkeeper for Mike\'s Country Craft Woodshop. Kathy was a longtime member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac. Survivors include her children: Kyle and Alex Thomason of Cadillac and Sarra (Chris) Williams of Mesick; grandchildren: Lyric and Isaac Ervin and DeJuan Williams; brothers: Gregory (Penny) Lipar and Steve Lipar all of Harrietta; sister: Mary Jo (Wes) Freeman of Harrietta; many Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins; special friends: Mike Thomason and Charlie (Kim) Benz of Cadillac; foster brothers and sisters: Shelly (Dohms) Myers, Tom Mannor and Bruce Winkleman. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Elizabeth Stark; foster brother: Kenny Dohms and a sister-in-law Tammy Lipar. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, September 24, 2011 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac with Reverend Fr. Francis J. Murphy as celebrant. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cadillac. Friends may meet the family from 4-7 PM Friday at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
