Kenneth O. Gregg

August 8, 1915 - September 8, 2014

Kenneth O. Gregg of Cadillac passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. He was 99. Ken was born August 8, 1915 in Sherman Township, Osceola County at the family homestead to Samuel O. and Emma (Dunbar) Gregg. Ken graduated from Tustin High School. After working for several years, Ken joined the Army Air Corp in 1941 and served during World War II. Once he returned home he worked at Briedenstein's Mobile for several years and retired from Wexford County Road Commission in 1977. Ken will be remembered for his genuine positive outlook, generosity and love of his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a talented and creative wood worker who had the ability build new or restore antique furniture. Ken enjoyed spending time playing cards with friends and fishing on the pontoon with his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and helping all his neighbors. He enjoyed his visits and friends at Daybreak Adult Daycare and the family would like to thank the staff there. Ken was fortunate to enjoy a rewarding and fulfilling quality of life for many years. On January 18, 1947 at the Gregg Homestead in Sherman Township he married the former Bernadean M. Holmberg and she survives him along with their children David (Linda) Gregg of Cadillac, Judy Fellows of Lansing, Carolyn (Bob) Davidson of Midland, Sheryl Blanchard of Cadillac and Doug (Tami) Gregg of Cadillac; 15 grandchildren: Tracy Gregg, Christopher Gregg, Erin Gregg, Chad (Shaye) Ellis, Amy (Chad) Ellis- Phillips, Christian Clark, Ashley (Marty) Crandall, Amanda (Evan) Godfrey, Ben Fellows (Angie Byers), Carrie Keelean, Sara (Matt) Manthey, Sam (Elizabeth) Blanchard, Andy (Katie) Blanchard, Gretchen Klein and Travis (Mandy) Gregg ; 19 great grandchildren; sisters in law: Bea Gregg, Willa Fagerman and Hilma Weir all of Cadillac; many nieces, nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons in law, Clay Blanchard and Mark Fellows; granddaughter, Beth Fellows; siblings, Ruth Johnson, Evertt Gregg, Doris Sprau, Don Gregg, Lucielle Payne, Bruce Gregg and an infant sister, Mary Alice Gregg. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Cadillac with Reverend Tom Ball officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church. His final resting place will be Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Daybreak Adult Daycare. An online guestbook is www.petersonfh.com.
