Larry H. Meiers Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Larry H. Meiers of Mesick passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at his home. He was 65. He was born October 17, 1948 in Lapeer, MI to Harold John and Frances I. (Streu) Meiers. Mr. Meiers lived most all his life in this area. He graduated from Mesick High School and served his country in the US Army in Germany, Thailand and Vietnam. He was employed with Shell Oil Co. and also worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction for 10 years. He worked at Rexair for 28 years and retired in 2011. He was a member of Mesick AMVETS Post #120 and D.A.V chapter #18 of Big Rapids. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and watching westerns. He also enjoyed spending time with friends camping in Glen's Cove in the U.P. He married Carmelina K. Gugliotta June 28, 1975 in Detroit, MI and she survives him, along with their children, Lisa Gettys of Tennessee, Kami Jennings of Cadillac, Eric (Kate) Meiers of Kingsley and Matt Meiers (Bre Miller) of South Boardman, grandchildren; Brittney and Holly Brewton and Darian and Keifer Jennings, his mother, Jacqueline Dinsmore of Boon, brothers, Clark (Diane) Meiers of Petoskey and Dar (Kelli) Willits of New Mexico, sisters, Linda (Warren) Quiggin of Buckley and Luann (Carl) Meier and Lori (David) Knapp of Arizona, many nieces and special nephews including Troy (Stacy) Quiggin and Jamie (Tosha) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold, mother Frances Willits, a brother, Robert E. Meiers, step-fathers, Lester Dinsmore and Larry Willits. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 at Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Deacon Jim Siler officiating and full military rites, under the auspice of the Cadillac Area Honor Guard.
