Larry Whaley Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Larry Whaley went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 22, 2012. He was 76 years old. He was born on April 9, 1936 to Lyman and Jean (Taylor) Whaley in Cadillac. He married Velma Vogt on April 22, 1958 in Cadillac at the First Baptist Church. Larry retired from the Wexford County Road Commission after 25 years of service. He attended the First Baptist Church of Cadillac. He served his country in the US Army. Larry enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, the woods, breakfast with his friends on Friday mornings and traveling. Most importantly, he loved his family and being with them. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Velma; daughters Lori (Mike) Dewey, Deb (Bill) Schmid, Cathy (Allen) Wright, Beth (Ken) Mulder, and Shelley Hurrell all of Cadillac; grandchildren, Melissa (Rueben) Colunga, Nathan (Katie) Dewey, Mary (Jay) Davis, Rachel Schmid, Nick Wright, Becky (Ryan) Kent, Elizabeth Mulder, Taylor Mulder, Emily Jo Mulder, Tanner Mulder, Jenn Hurrell and Jake Hurrell; great-grandchildren, Noah and Joshua Colunga, Alyssa and Silas Dewey; brother, James (Susan) Whaley; brother-in-law Zane (Phyllis) Vogt and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lyman and Jean Whaley; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Adolph and Dorothy Vogt; sister-in-law Vickie Phillips and niece Deanna Binder. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Cadillac with Reverend David McMahon officiating. Friends may meet the family from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Today (Monday) at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac. Memorial contributions can be made to Little Mary\'s Hospitality House, 1580 Seaman Road, Wellston, MI 49689 for families of terminally ill children or the First Baptist Church Food Pantry.
