Lela Sawyer

January 11, 1929 - February 4, 2011

Lela Sawyer of Cadillac passed away February 4, 2011 at Green Acres Retirement Living in Cadillac. She was 82. Lela was born to Joseph and Maria (Gonzales) Loza on January 11, 1929 in Santa Barbara, California. She married Clinton B. “Todd†Sawyer February 17, 1951 in Fort Ord, California. Lela owned and operated her own beauty shop in Cadillac for many years and had also worked at Dodgson beauty shop. She was president of The Wexford County Democrats for 15 years. Lela also enjoyed collecting antiques and was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church of Cadillac. Survivors include her husband Clinton “Todd†of Cadillac; daughters: Patti (Courtney) Morgan of West Pointe Park, Michigan and Karen (John) Stott of Powder Springs, Georgia; grandchildren; Courtney, Joseph, Elizabeth, John Paul and Christopher; a sister; Mary Guaden of San Jose, California and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Rueben and Joseph Loza; five sisters: Felicia Marquez, Josie Marquez, Grace Venegas, Sally Martin and Rachel Fantozzi. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Reverend Francis J. Murphy officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cherry Valley Cemetery in Hartwick Township, Osceola County.
