Lester O. Nolan

January 31, 1933 - July 19, 2013

Lester O. Nolan of Boon passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 at The Lakeview in Cadillac. He was 80. He was born January 31, 1933 in Boon to Sylvester A. and Pearl Mae (Plotts) Nolan and they preceded him in death. Lester attended Mesick Schools before serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict Era. He then married the former Gladys Pauline Millen on June 18, 1955 in Boon and she preceded him in death on September 21, 2003. Mr. Nolan worked cutting pulpwood for Don Russell and also worked in the Christmas Trees for Don Spolyar. He also worked at CMI, was a bus driver for Mesick Schools before retiring from Four Winns. Mr. Nolan also served as Boon Township Constable and Sexton at the Cemetery. Lester attended Boon Baptist Church, Salvation Army and The Boon Foursquare Church. He loved hunting, fishing and playing the harmonica. He also liked art, embroidery and gardening. He is survived by his children: Daniel Nolan of Harrietta, Kevin Nolan of Cadillac, Ronald (Doreen) Nolan of Cadillac, Debra (Morey) Cotton of Cadillac, Diana Payne of Boon, Janice Schmuckal of Traverse City and Sheryl (Mark) Beaudet of Cadillac; 21 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a sister, Beatrice Smothers and sister in laws Hildegard Nolan and Izzy Nolan. In addition to his parents and wife, "Pauline†, he was preceded in death by brothers: Ernest, Herman, Clifford and Arnold Nolan; sisters: Mary Koval, Gertrude Miller and Zella Fargo. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Reverend Lloyd Jewett officiating. Friends may meet the family Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Boon Westside Cemetery in Wexford County with full military rites under the auspices of the Cadillac Area Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
