Lorna L. DeMar

Lorna L. DeMar of Boon passed away April 14, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. She was 85. She was born May 9, 1926 in Effingham, Illinois to Walter and Bessie (Redman) Pendlay. She married Frank DeMar September 2, 1943 in Champaign, Illinois and he preceded her in death in January 1982. Lorna enjoyed gardening and many other outdoor activities and later enjoyed crocheting. She took great pride in crocheting many lap robes for Veterans Nursing Homes to pay respect to the many veterans who will never be forgotten. She also enjoyed watching baseball games on television. She worked as an apartment complex manager and retired from Medallion Management in April 1993. She is survived by children: Donald DeMar of Three Rivers, Michael (Pauline) DeMar of Boon, Anita (Ray “Randy†) Cornell of Tustin and; step-daughter: Corrine DeMar of Wisconsin; grandchildren: Eric (Wendy) McGahan , Laura (Dave) Johnson, Paul (Aubrie) Staffen; six step-grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren, one step great great-granddaughter and her special companion, her cat, Misty. In addition to her parents and husband, Frank, she was preceded in death by three step- daughters: Joan, Pat and Donna and her sister Ethel Myers. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 21, 2012 at St. Appolonia Cemetery in Morley, Michigan. Arrangements were made by the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
