Margaret L. VanPelt

May 4, 1927 - February 4, 2014

Margaret L. VanPelt of Cadillac went to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at her home. She was 86. She was born May 4, 1927 in Cadillac to Arthur and Edith (Dahlquist) Griswold. On February 1, 1948 at the First Covenant Church she married Clyde "Bugs†VanPelt. Margaret graduated from Cadillac High School and had lived all her life in the Cadillac area. She was a lifetime member of the First Covenant Church in Cadillac where she was also confirmed. She loved to play Yahtzee. She enjoyed puzzles, camping, scenery and the simple pleasures in life. Margaret was a homebody that loved to surround herself with family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and great grandmother. She was always kind and grateful for everything she had. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Clyde "Bugs†; daughter, Deb (Tom) Holsinger of Cadillac; son, Jody (Connie) VanPelt of Boon; grandchildren: Chad (Deb) Foster, Craig Foster, Lisa (Jason) Vermilyea, Courtney (Josh) Brautigam and Amanda and Jodi VanPelt; great grandchildren: Rachel, Brooke, Chad Jr., Brandon, Erin, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Dylan and Zaydee; her siblings: Helen Harris of Cadillac, Arlene (Arlen) Matson of Traverse City, Betty (Carl) Fortelka of Hoxeyville, Jerry Griswold of Cadillac and Rick Griswold of Ocala, Florida and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Terry and Mark VanPelt, a great granddaughter, Bailey Vermilyea and a brother, Raymond Griswold. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the First Covenant Church in Cadillac with Reverend Gregory Du Bois officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Her final resting place will be Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Covenant Church in Cadillac. An online guestbook is available at www.petersonfh.com.
