Marion M. Maurer

Marion M. Maurer of Cadillac passed away Sunday morning, February 17, 2013 at The Lakeview in Cadillac. She was 95. She was born October 16, 1917 in Cadillac to William Preston White and Katherine Marie (Hofstra) White. On October 13, 1939 in Cadillac she married Carl "Ross†Maurer and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1987. Marion graduated from Cadillac High School and went on to County Normal in Kalamazoo in order to become a teacher. She taught in one room schools in the area. She also worked at Maurer Office Supplies, Mandy's Fabrics, Bob Jones Sewing Center, Pine Garden Lanes and also taught Stretch and Sew in her home. Marion was a champion bowler and certified bowling instructor and is honored in the Cadillac Bowling Hall of Fame. She loved sewing, weaving and her dogs. She is survived by her son, William (Gayle) Maurer of Cadillac; a sister, Marge Hinerman of Massachusetts and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Marguerite Coyle and Mable Schwartz and a brother, Harold White. A graveside service will be held this spring at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. Memorial contributions may be made to Wonderland Humane Society.
