Max J. Johnson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Max J. Johnson of Cadillac passed away Thursday evening, February 14, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. He was 84. He was born August 1, 1928 in Burdell Township to Carl D. and Agnes T. (Watson) Johnson. Max lived in the area most of his life and had graduated from Tustin High School. He served in the United States Army in the Ski and Mountain Troops during the Korean Conflict. Max worked at Wedin Corporation for 30 years until retiring in 1990. He had also worked part time for the Department of Natural Resources. He was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Tustin. He was a past president of Friends of Carl T. Johnson Museum and volunteered at the hunting and fishing center. He enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, fishing, golfing and wood working. On June 12, 1948 in Gladwin he married the former Mary Jean West and she survives him along with their daughters, Colleen (Gregg) Johnson-Monter of Cadillac and Janet (Mario) Indiviglio of West Palm Beach, Florida; grandchildren: Jade, Linnea and Angela and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters: Elof and Ivan Johnson, Millie Engler, Dorothy Stenman, Ruth Peterson and an infant sister, Ruth Johnson. Memorial services will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Tustin with Reverend Robert Kahly officiating. Friends may meet the family prior to the service at church. Burial will be at Burdell Township Cemetery in Tustin. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church in Tustin or Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center. Arrangements were made by the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
