Michael Anthony “Mick†Korte the III of Cadillac died Saturday morning, June 4, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. He was 46. He was born in Dearborn, Michigan on May 15, 1965 and has lived in Cadillac for the past 38 years. Mick had been employed at Carter\'s in Cadillac for 16 years and most recently for Bridgeway and Hope Network of Cadillac. He was a member of the Patriot Choir and St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac where he had served as an Altar server. He participated in Special Olympics, playing basketball, softball, bowling, track & field and the winter games. Mick truly loved sports in general both watching and tracking the scores. He also enjoyed word search games, jig saw puzzles, Play Station, collecting the State quarters, spending time with family, helping Jim and walking and riding his bike with Wally. Survivors include his mother, Nancy J. Risdon of Cadillac; father & step mother, Michael (Nancy) Korte of Fountain, MI; brother, David B. (Angela M.) Korte of Grand Rapids; sister, Carol L. Koch & brother-in-law, David M. Koch of Shawnee, KS; nieces & nephew: Meredith M. Koch, Amanda Jane Koch, Eva L. Korte, and Kyle D. Korte; very special friend, Alice Borman of Lake City. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac with Reverend Fr. Francis J. Murphy as celebrant. Friends may meet the family from 4-7 PM Monday (today) at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics of Michigan, Area 32.
