Nancy A. (Ashbay) Cochrane Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Nancy A. (Ashbay) Cochrane of Cadillac passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the home of her daughter with her family by her side. She was 88. She was born February 28, 1924 in Cadillac to Harry & Bessie (Tompkins) MacDonald and they preceded her in death. Nancy graduated from Cadillac High School in 1942. On June 28, 1947 she married Maynard Ashbay and he preceded her in death on October 4, 1975. Nancy had been employed at Cadillac Area Public Schools for many years and retired in 1985. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Cadillac. Survivors include her children: Marcia (Rory) Hughes of Cadillac, David (Dee) Ashbay of Cadillac, Douglas (Barbara) Ashbay of Wyoming, MI, Richard â€œRickâ€ Ashbay of Cadillac, and Timothy Ashbay of Cadillac; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Gordiner, a brother, George MacDonald and a daughter-in-law, Joni Strzelecki. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, November 5, 2012 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Reverend Kenneth Pastotnik officiating. Her final resting place will be Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. Friends may meet the family from 4-7 PM Sunday at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
