Nella Mae "Mic" Ellens

Nella Mae \"Mic\" Ellens, of McBain, went into the arms of her Loving Jesus on Monday, June 11, 2012, with her family by her side. She was 83. She was born on June 5, 1929, in Riverside Township, Missaukee County, to Angus and Ada (Jager) Vanderheide. She married Junior \"June\" Ellens on June 17, 1949, at the Vanderheide family home. She graduated from the McBain Public (Agricultural) School. She had been a homemaker and was a bookkeeper the family business, Ellens Equipment in McBain, also for Darnell Oil Company and for Roger Spoelma, both of McBain. She was a life member of the Calvin Christian Reformed Church where she had taught Sunday School, was in the Women\'s Bible Study and was active in all the church activities. She also was a member the Quilting Bee and served as secretary and treasurer for the local branch of the World Home Blble League. She was an active member of the McBain Chamber of Commerce. She was a wonderful pie baker and had won several awards for her pies. She enjoyed reading, horseback riding, bear hunting (having shot three), being the navigator for her husband when delivering equipment to many different places. She was very involved with her grandchildren and the rest of her family. She is survived by her husband, Junior \"June\" Ellens of McBain; children, Julane (Roland) Lamkin of McBain, Dale (Patricia) Ellens of Rock Valley, Iowa, Dennis Ellens, Donald (Linda) Ellens, and Dewey (Janette) Ellens, all of McBain; 19 grandchildren: Bradley (Rachel) Lamkin, Ronelle (Matt) Caskey, Holly (Casey) Sigafoose, Abbey Lamkin, Zan Lamkin, Kate (Jamin) VerVelde, Lora Ellens, Mark (Kelsey) Ellens, Tom (April) Ellens, Joshua (Carmen) Ellens, Lindsey (Greg) Elsholz, Marni Ellens, Kaci Jo Ellens, Nicole Ellens, Luke Ellens, Derek Ellens, Ryan Ellens, Kyle (Stacey) Ellens, and Kade Ellens; 14 great-grandchildren; in-laws, J. Harold (Mary) Ellens of Farmington Hills, Stanley (Joanne) Ellens of Saugatuck, Virginia (Robert) DeHaan of west of Chicago, Hazel (Glen) Kuyper of Zeeland, David (Mary) Ellens of Cadillac, Greta Vanderheide of Jenison, and Marlene (Jeff) Engelsman of Zeeland, and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Ellens, on July 18,1975; great-granddaughter, Ruby J. Lamkin; siblings, Gerald (Jeanette) Vanderheide, Gertrude (Harvey) Meyering, and Robert Vanderheide; in-laws, Gordon Ellens and Orville Disselkoen. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at the Lucas Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. Ken Koning officiating. Burial will be at the Mount View Cemetery in McBain. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the Burkholder Funeral Home in McBain, and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
