Norman Karl Enter of Tustin died peacefully on June 13, 2012 at his home. He was 96. He was born March 5, 1916 to Charles and Hannah (Reburg) Enter in Reed City and they preceded him in death. Norman attended grade school at the Kearns one room school in Lincoln Township and later attended Reed City High School. At age 14, he worked off the farm with a team of horses in building US Highway 131. After high school he was employed by Reburg Dairy Company in Petoskey. He later returned home to his family farm. In the mid 1930\'s he traveled, on then, all gravel roads to the State of Washington, working on farms along the way. During WWII he worked in war industries in Detroit, Michigan. After WWII he returned to Northern Michigan to a farm in Leroy and eventually settled on a farm in Tustin, where he spent the last 52 years of his life. He finally sold his cattle herd at age 84. Mr. Enter had been employed at Miller Industries for over 30 years. He was active in 4-H with his children and grandchildren in cattle and other livestock projects. He was a member of the Leroy Methodist Church and had served as treasurer. He enjoyed numerous successful hunting trips to Colorado. In 1938 he married the former Eleanor Ruth Ochs of Leroy and she preceded him in death in 2007 after 69 years of marriage. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends in the Northern Michigan area. In his final years he was cared for by his daughter, Gala. He is survived by his children: Roy (Penny) Enter of Denver, Richard (Kay) Enter of Ann Arbor, Dean Enter of Tustin and Gala Potter of Cadillac; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his three younger siblings: Karl, Lucille and Dorothy. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 18 , 2012 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Reverends Jodie Flessner and Scott Loomis officiating. Friends may meet the family from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Leroy.
