Reiko Schriner

October 20, 1930 - November 21, 2012

Reiko Schriner of Cadillac, Michigan formerly of Oakland, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 at Munson Hospice House, Traverse City, Michigan. Reiko was born October 20, 1930 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, the daughter of Heihichi and Kotoe (Kawanaka) Nagae. Reiko was a dedicated, loving Navy wife and mother to Patricia. She was a stay-at-home mother and created a nice, comfortable home for her family at their many Navy duty stations. Due to her husband\'s many absences, she managed the day-to-day affairs of her home. Reiko was an avid reader and enjoyed reading the many Japanese books in her home library. She was trained and skilled at the art of Japanese Ikebana flower arranging and loved tending to her flowers and vegetable gardens, sharing many vegetables with her friends. Reiko was an excellent cook and her family and friends enjoyed her Japanese meals. She was talented at using her knitting machine and created many of her daughter\'s clothes. Reiko was always nice to everyone and quietly comforted elderly friends and family members so they could have a better life. Reiko adored her granddaughters and loved to shop for them. Reiko was a member of Enon Baptist Church. She married Karl Schriner on June 18, 1963 in Tokyo, Japan and he survives her along with their daughter, Patricia Schriner (Dan Troia) of Dansville, MI, sisters; Mieko Ono, Yasuko Fugikawa, Setsuko Kawaguchi, Junko Konishi all of Japan and Saeko Bergst of California. She was the proud grandmother to Elizabeth Troia and Karlissa Troia of Dansville, MI. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Masataka Nagae and Mamoru Nagae.] In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
