Rex C. VanNatter Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rex C. VanNatter of Cadillac died Tuesday evening, January 17, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. He was 80. He was born in Cadillac on January 16, 1932 to Ivan & Cleo B. (Nelson) VanNatter and they preceded him in death. He graduated from Cadillac High School and had served in the United States Air Force. Rex had been employed at the Michigan Highway Department and later was the owner/operator of Rex\'s Sinclair Gas Station. He then was employed at Huizingh\'s Furniture Store and later retired from Lakeview Lutheran Manor in 1994. He enjoyed golf, camping in Canada with family and friends and was a member of the American Legion Post 94 of Cadillac. On May 12, 1962 in Hillman, Michigan he married the former Ruth A. Roy and she survives him along with children: Rex C. VanNatter, II of South Carolina, Carrie VanNatter of Lake City and Cindy (Steven) Burton of Kentucky; 3 grandchildren: Derek, Dustin and Nicholas Dore; 3 great grandchildren: Raelie, Silas, and Tayden; a brother, Keith (Betty) VanNatter of Cadillac; a sister, Betty Campbell of Traverse City. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Don, James and Richard VanNatter. Friends may meet the family from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac and a luncheon will be held immediately following visitation at the American Legion Post 94 of Cadillac.
