Richard L. Loughmiller

September 1, 1937 - October 20, 2013

Richard L. Loughmiller of Cadillac passed away Sunday morning, October 20, 2013 at The Lakeview in Cadillac. He was 76. He was born September 1, 1937 in Shelby, Michigan to Horace and Eula Helen (Poe) Loughmiller and they preceded him in death. Richard graduated from Shelby High School before completing his Bachelor Degree from Central Michigan University. He then went on to earn his Master's Degree from University of Michigan. He sold educational supplies to schools throughout the Lower and Upper Peninsulas of Michigan for many years. He was a life member of the Cadillac Elks Lodge #680, past president of the Michigan Association of Educational Representatives and past chair member of the Cadillac Area Land Conservancy. Richard attended the United Methodist Church of Cadillac. He enjoyed downhill skiing, running and biking. On April 10, 2002 in Boca Grande, Florida he married the former Marlene A. Alberts and she survives him along with his sons, Brian (Julie) Loughmiller and Gary Loughmiller all of Cadillac; a grandson, Brian Michael Loughmiller, Jr. of Osan, South Korea; a sister, Karen Alexander of Muskegon; a niece, Wendy (Max) Borgeson and a nephew Craig Alexander. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Cadillac with Reverend Tom Ball and Parish Assistant Judy Coffey officiating. Friends may meet the family from 4-7 PM Wednesday at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac. His final resting place will be Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
