Richard H. Smith Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Richard H. Smith of Cadillac died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at his home. He was 63. He was born on December 29, 1947 to Harold E. & Florence I. (Loomis) Smith in Cadillac and has lived here all his life. He graduated from Cadillac High School in 1966 and had been employed at Kroger, Hamady and Carters in Cadillac and retired 10 years ago. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and was affiliated with the Zion Lutheran Church in Cadillac through the years. Richard loved his grandchildren and watching his daughters and grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed breakfast and coffee with friends, hunting, fishing, camping, tinkering, and feeding the birds and wildlife. On August 16, 1969 in Cadillac he married the former Elizabeth A. â€œBethâ€ Baker and she survives him along with their daughters: Kelly (Robert) Ryan of Marion and Shelly (Eric) Sumpter of Reed City; 5 grandchildren: Morgan Sumpter, Brittney Ryan, Chase Ryan, Garett Sumpter, and Avery Sumpter; 2 brothers: Ronald (Sue) Smith and Danny Smith & FiancÃ©e Connie all of Cadillac; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Mr. Gary Pullen officiating. His final resting place will be Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. Friends may meet the family Sunday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
