Richard B. Telgenhoff

Richard B. Telgenhoff of Cadillac went to be with his Lord Friday, October 28, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. He was 71. He was born on November 12, 1939 in Newberry, Michigan to Leon Leonard & Leonora Ann (McCarry) Telgenhoff and they preceded him in death. He graduated from Cadillac High School in 1957 and had served in the United States Army during Vietnam. Richard founded the Apostolic Evening Light Tabernacle in 1965 and has been the Pastor there since. His passion in life was preaching the Word. He loved the outdoors and had been awarded the Wexford County Conservationist of the year. Richard also enjoyed hunting, fishing and had been a taxidermist for many years. He was also involved in Boy Scouts and was active teaching about wild and edible plants. On August 15, 1997 in Cadillac he married the former Sherry Lynn Mohr and she survives him along with children: Rich (Rebecca) Telgenhoff of Holland, Darrell (Mandy) Telgenhoff of Portage, Michael (Alison) Telgenhoff of Midland, David (Laura) Johnson of Cadillac, Glenda Telgenhoff of Midland, Christina (Chad) Dodde of Tustin, Denise Johnson, and Christina (Greg) Knoch all of Cadillac; grandchildren: Leah, Jarrett, Jorgen, Eilie, Keaton, Bailey, Jacob, Emily, Joshua, Caleb, Caitlin, Jessica, Joseph, Nevan, Stephen, Amber, Lance, Brianna, Sidney-Blake and Michelle; 3 great grandchildren: Alaya, Crystal and Jeremiah; a brother, Donald (Ella) Telgenhoff of Cadillac; two sisters, Carole (Fred) Campbell of Grayling and Doris (Jim) Gerst of North Muskegon; two sisters in law: Donna Telgenhoff of Cadillac and Mary Ann Telgenhoff of Caledonia; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers: Leonard, Reginald, Walter, George and Dale Telgenhoff and sisters: Evelyn Telgenhoff, Delores Telgenhoff, Winifred Erickson and Vivian Pinching. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Minister Dennis Merchant officiating. Burial will be at Cherry Grove Township Cemetery in Wexford County. Friends may meet the family from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at the Funeral Home.
