Robert Harry Carmon of Cadillac died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was 72. He was born in Traverse City on December 5, 1938 to Carl Ervis & Hattie Estella (Piltz) Carmon and they preceded him in death. Mr. Carmon had served in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam and had been employed at the United States Postal Service in Grand Rapids retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Independent Bible Church in Cadillac and had been active with the Friendship Club and Toastmasters in Cadillac. He enjoyed model building, wood working, reading, history and learning new things. On January 8, 1972 he married the former Linda J. Crane and she survives him along with their children: Samuel Carmon (Mary Harris) of Belding, Joseph (Tanya) Carmon of Greenville and Anna Carmon and Fiancé Rex (Yahoo) Sheldon, Jr. of Cadillac, who is like a son and his daughter, Roslyn, who is like a granddaughter; 3 grandchildren: Alexandra, Alainna and Zander Carmon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister, a brother, Carl Carmon and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Carmon. Funeral services with Reverend Nate Walker and full military rites under the auspices of the Cadillac Area Honor Guard will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Independent Bible Church (1710 Wright St.) in Cadillac. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Friday at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac. Burial will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
