Robert E. Karp Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert E. Karp of Cadillac died Thursday evening, June 16, 2011 in Hillsdale, Michigan. He was 90. He was born August 26, 1920 in Detroit to Rudolph C. & Lillian L. (Wendt) Karp. Mr. Karp was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. He was a Mechanical Engineer graduate of Ford Trade School and had been employed as General Manager of Ford Motors Steel Division and retired in 1980. He was a former member of the Cadillac Country Club and the Royal Palm Country Club in Naples, Florida and a Life member of the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers of Detroit and a member of the American Society of Tool Manufacturing Engineers. He was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Southfield, Michigan and while in Cadillac he was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and in Naples, Florida he was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Mr. Karp was an avid reader, he loved sports and working and was a world traveler. On April 10, 1943 in Detroit he married the former Jean M. Perlick and she survives along with their children: Robert C. (Kathleen) Karp of Seattle, WA, Marsha (Brian) Evenson of Hudson, MI, and Karen (Robert) Mellott of Bloomfield, MI; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1:00PM Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Cadillac with Reverend Scott Torkko officiating. Friends may meet the family from 5-7 PM Thursday at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
