Rose L. Isabella Peterson

Rose L. Isabella Peterson passed away September 4, 2012 at the Curry House in Cadillac. She was 97 years old. Rose was born September 28, 1914 in Thomasboro, Illinois to William A. and Elizabeth (Sandwell) Leonard. On September 24, 1960 she married Gerald A. “Pete†Peterson in Champaign, Illinois and they resided in Elgin, Illinois. She graduated from St. Joseph School of nursing in Elgin, Illinois and worked as a Registered Nurse for many years until retirement. She donated the stained glass windows in the Provena St. Joseph Hospital Chapel in her and her husband\'s memory. In 2004, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona for several years until moving to Cadillac. Rose loved to bake, cross- stitch, knit and crochet. Her family and friends have been gifted over the years with her beautiful counted cross-stich pictures and they all enjoyed her Christmas cookies, lemon meringue pies and knitted dishcloths. She is survived by her sister-in-laws, Barbara Leonard of Douds, IA and Lois Ryckeghem of Louisville, Kentucky; nephew, Karl (Carole) Ryckeghem of Cadillac and niece Mary Ellen (John) Stocker of Louisville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents; brothers: Bernard, Maurice, Joseph “Frank†and Cyril and her sister, Mary. The Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac with Reverend Craig Haider as celebrant. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Elgin, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to Provena St. Joseph Hospital Foundation, 77 North Airlite Street, Elgin, Illinois 60123, Mercy Hospice of Cadillac, 7985 Mackinaw Trail, Suite 100, Cadillac, Michigan 49601 or a charity of choice.
