Russell E. Anderson of Tustin passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. He was 79. He was born November 12, 1932 to Russell and Bernice (Yutel) Anderson in Elmhurst, Illinois. Dr. Anderson served his country during the Korean Conflict. He had also worked as a steel worker on the Mackinac Bridge. After working on the bridge he attended Ferris State College and earned his Pharmaceutical Degree. He later graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School and went on the work at Medical Arts in Cadillac for several years. From there Dr. Anderson helped establish the Reed City Medical Practice, where he worked for many years until retiring in 1993. After retirement Dr. Anderson practiced medicine on cruise ships, in Alaska and at the Free Clinic in Cadillac. Dr. Anderson was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing and hunting, especially North American big game. He was a member of the American Legion and the National Rifle Association. His family, friends and fellow hunters were very important to him. He loved being a doctor and valued his patients very much. On September 29, 1956 he married the former Sandra Faber in Cadillac and she survives him along with their children: Eric Anderson of Richmond, Virginia, Kurt (Amy) Anderson of Roscommon, LeeAnn (Jeff) Pullen of Tustin and Kirsten (Alan) Lucas of Cadillac; grandchildren: Kyle Pullen, Erin Pullen, Wyatt Lucas and Shaelyn Lucas; mother, Bernice; brothers, John (Linda) Marston and Jay Marston both of Wisconsin; sister-in-laws: Jeanne (Doug) Strange of Dorr, Stella Faver of California, Ann Faber of Muskegon and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Jay Anderson, father, Russell Anderson, step-father, Henry Marston and many good friends. A private family memorial will take place at a later date. In leiu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements were made by the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
