Ruth G. Armstrong Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ruth G. Armstrong of Cadillac died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Autumnwood of McBain surrounded by her family. She was 88. She was born on June 20, 1922 in Thomas, Oklahoma to Commodore Perry & Pearl M. (Zerby) Kinder and they preceded her in death. She graduated from the Custer High School in Custer, Oklahoma. On October 17, 1953 in Lansing she married Donald E. Armstrong and he preceded her in death on February 11, 1989. She had been employed at JW Knapp in Lansing and at Clark\'s Clothing and Franklin Garment in Cadillac. She enjoyed painting and quilting and was known as a remarkable artist. Ruth was a member of the Northern Light Church of Cadillac. Survivors include her daughters: Shelby Yokeum (Lan Bridson) of Manton and Bonnie Springberg of Cadillac; 5 grandchildren: Donnie, Therese (Dave), Leigh (Tim), Skip (Maryann), and Jade; 12 great grandchildren: Brandy, Ashley, Colin, Mallori, Zachary, Felica, Sarah, Sammi, Rachael, Savannah, Katy, and Kourtney; 3 great- great grandchildren: Grace, Emmett, and Lily; a brother, Clarence (Joyce) Kinder of Chicago; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a stillborn baby boy, and a brother, Thomas Keith Kinder and a sister, Ila Mae Bennett. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Northern Light Church of Cadillac (115 Cobb Street) in Cadillac with Reverend John Mellish officiating. Ruth\'s final resting place will be Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. Friends may meet the family from 5-8 PM Wednesday at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
