Thomas C. Beattie Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Thomas C. Beattie of Rose City formerly of Cadillac passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 at Bortz Health Care in Rose City. He was 68. He was born on April 11, 1945 in Cadillac to M. Wayne & Verle B. (Cushman) Beattie and they preceded him in death. Tom graduated from Cadillac High School in 1963 and went on to Ferris State University for 2 years and continued on to graduate from Muskegon Business School. He would then go to work for at Baird Cotter & Bishop until he went into the service and he served his country in the United States Army in Korea during the Vietnam War. After returning to Cadillac he worked at the Cadillac State Bank for over ten years, then he worked at Northwestern Bank as Branch Manager and from there he went to work at Mutual Savings in Reed City and was with them for a few years before he moved to Rose City when he went to work for Farmers & Merchants Bank and was there for 8 years. Tom was currently employed at Fernelius Chevrolet in Rose City. He enjoyed investing time with family, camping, being outdoors, coaching youth sports and music weather it was singing or playing guitar. On July 29, 1967 in Cadillac he married the former Patricia A. Waters and she survives him along with their four children: Lisa Beattie of Columbus, OH, Craig (Majida) Beattie of Kalamazoo, Laura Beattie of Grand Rapids and Aaron Beattie of Niles; a grandson, Tyler Beattie; three brothers: James (Barbara) Beattie of Duluth, MN, John (Marilyn) Beattie of Greeley, CO, and Bob Beattie of Cadillac; 7 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Reverend Larry Shetenhelm officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac with full military rites under the auspices of the Cadillac Area Honor Guard. Friends may meet the family at the funeral home from 5-8 PM Thursday.
