Vera M. Dahlquist

May 20, 1926 - January 14, 2014

Vera M. Dahlquist of Lake City passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at her home. She was 87. Vera was born May 20, 1926 in Meauwataka, Michigan to Emil and Mildred (Mowrey) Batt and they preceded her in death. On May 19, 1950 she married Keith L. Dalhquist and he preceded her in death on August 21, 2005. Vera worked at BF Goodrich, Michigan Rubber before retiring from Cadillac Rubber and Plastics. She enjoyed all forms of the creative arts from sewing, crafts, flower arrangement, drawing to oil painting. She enjoyed nature from flower gardening to organic food gardening. She loved playing all types of cards and board games. She was involved with St. William\'s Catholic Church Auxiliary Guilds from fundraising to event planning and the Bridge Club. She was involved throughout her life in raising funds for many charitable organizations. For 40 years she was a member of the Daisy Chain raising funds for \"The Elks,\" of Cadillac, Michigan. She drove in the City of Cadillac July 4th Celebratory Parade for 15 years. She adored children and the elderly and they adored her. Wherever she lived she always had many friends. Most of all she loved her family and was proud and honored to be a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will always be in our hearts guiding us as she always has. She is survived by her son, Randy (Rachelle) Dalhquist of Hendersonville, Tennessee; daughter, Carmen (Stuart Gottesman) Dahlquist of Greenwood, South Carolina; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Nadine (Ted) Penny of Manton and Sharon (Robert) Harris of Texas and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her siblings: Don, Virginia and Karen. Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Frank Kopasz officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service. Burial has taken place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. Memorial contributions may be made to Elks Lodge Scholarship Fund. An online guestbook is available at www.petersonfh.com.
