Virginia Mae Johnson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Virginia Mae Johnson of Cadillac died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at The Lakeview in Cadillac. She was 87. She was born on August 9, 1925 in Bedford, Indiana to Otis & Cleo (Williams) Dowling. On April 20, 1946 in Marion, Indiana she married Phillip Lowell Johnson and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1982. She graduated from Marion High School in Marion, Indiana and lived there many years until moving to Owosso, Michigan in 1962. In 1971 she moved to Cadillac where she lived out her life. Mrs. Johnson had been employed at the Mitchell Corporation in Owosso and in Cadillac and had also worked at the U.S. Forest Service in Cadillac. Virginia was a member of First Baptist Church in Cadillac and loved being with her family. She enjoyed embroidery and cross country skiing with her husband. Survivors include her daughter, Carol (Allen) Dumond of Cadillac; her son, Jay Johnson of Mancelona; granddaughters: Alanna Dumond and Katy (Harold) Danford; and great grandson, Landyn Danford. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded by a brother, Wayne Dowling and sisters, Louise Smoot and Margaret Hazel. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, October 1, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Cadillac with Reverend Mike Stambaugh officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
