Walter H. Christensen Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Walter H. Christensen of Cadillac died Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Pleasant Lake Lodge Adult Foster Care. He was 86. He was born April 8, 1925 in Cadillac to Herman E. and Florence (Barr) Christensen. On April 23, 1954 he married Ava R. Nye in Lake City, MI. She preceded him in death March 4, 2004. Mr. Christensen had been employed at St. John\'s Table Company, Charlene\'s Restaurant and had been a crossing guard. He also was employed at Mercy Hospital and at Cadillac Area Public Schools, retiring in 1984. He loved to go to the Frosty Cup with family and friends. The Family would like to thank the Staff of Pleasant Lake Lodge AFC. He is survived by a son, Donald Christensen (Crystal Peterson); and daughters: Betty (William) Taylor and Kay Christensen (Richard Picardat) all of Cadillac; 15 Grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers, Floyd and Donald Christensen and a grandson, Derek Fargo. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Reverend Emma Neff officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. Memorial contributions can be made to the Clam River Greenway Project.
