William C. "Bill" Moon

March 23, 1924 - August 1, 2014

William C. "Bill†Moon of Cadillac passed away peacefully Friday, August 1, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 90. He was born March 23, 1924 in Cadillac, Michigan to Lloyd and Maude (Curtis) Moon. Shortly after graduating from Cadillac High School Bill enlisted in the Unites States Marine Corp and was called to serve during World War II. During his heroic service he was wounded twice, awarded two purple hearts and two bronze stars for bravery. Upon returning home Bill worked as a fireman for the City of Cadillac before being called to serve during the Korean War. After his second enlistment he went to work for the City of Cadillac as a police officer. Bill retired from the United State Postal Service after serving as a letter carrier for 30 years, during which time he was also a volunteer fireman. Bill loved the outdoors; he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and working on the farm. He also enjoyed bowling and loved spending time with his family. Bill was a life member of the American Legion. On July 14, 1946 at the United Methodist Church in Cadillac he married Rose M. Osborn and she survives him along with their six children: Terry (Mary Kay) Moon, Tammy Evers, Trudy (Tony) Fuzi, Talli (Ben) Franklin all of Cadillac, Todd (Ladda) Moon of Henderson, Nevada and Trent Moon of Cadillac; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a sister, Kay Currell of Tennessee; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and special family friends, K Weston and Bill King. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Shirley Cooper; a brother, Larry Moon and a great grandson, Benjamin Tyler Franklin. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the South Community United Methodist Church in Cadillac with Reverend James Mort officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Hospice of Michigan. An online guestbook is available at www.petersonfh.com.
