William Lee Parkinson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

William Lee Parkinson of Cadillac died Saturday morning, December 18, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. He was 71. He was born on January 28, 1939 in Garrett, Indiana to Chester T. and Irma June (Hager) Parkinson and they preceded him in death. In 1957 he graduated from Waterloo High School in Indiana. He attended Indiana University for two years and went on to receive his Bachelors of Arts Degree from Central Michigan University in 1966 and his Master of Arts Degree from Central Michigan University in 1970. Mr. Parkinson had taught in the public schools for two years, then had been employed by the State of Michigan Department of Corrections as an Educator for 30 years and retired in February of 2006. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and his family, biking, walking, traveling around Michigan and being out doors. Bill attended Zion Lutheran Church in Cadillac and had also served in the United States Air Force. On October 1, 1961 in East Tawas he married the former Shirley Kay Nunn and she survives him along with their sons: Matthew Parkinson of Rochester Hills, MI and Michael (Amanda) Parkinson of Mason, Ohio; three grandchildren: Meghan, Savannah and Mora. In accordance with Mr. Parkinson\'s wishes cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held in the spring in East Tawas, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice.
