Darcie Ann Wright

Darcie Ann Wright lost her battle with cancer (multiple myeloma) and passed away Saturday August 16th 2024 at her home in Hoxeyville, surrounded by her family. Darcie will always be remembered as a kind, caring, compassionate woman. Her love for nature, painting and family was the foundation of her beautiful heart. Darcie never met a person she could find the good in their soul. Her strong family bonds made her a woman who loved being home where she tended to her numerous flowers gardens and watching all the birds, deer, turkeys and bear that wondered through her yard. Darcie loved and cared for all animals always making sure they had food and water, she will be forever the “bear lady.” Darcie made many friendships working in her community her entire life. She spent 12 years as a waitress at Garlets Corner, as well as 7 years at Crossroads Bar. Prior to raising her family she attended bladesmithing classes and became a certified blade sharpener. This sparked her other passion of painting, resulting in very beautiful and unique hand painted nature’s scenes on saw blades that she sold. Her love of outdoors and being close to home landed her at Coolwater Campground for 18 years maintaining the campground and making lasting friendships with many campers. She also helped out at her Brother Kim’s business FPS Archery, and had a few years of babysitting the local kids. She is probably best remembered for her time at Caberfae Peaks, 26 years of service in housekeeping. This is where some of her closest friendships bonds were made. If you asked Darcie her biggest accomplishment was her kids. She was preceded in death by Dean Oglesby her lifelong partner of 30 years, her parents Carl and Betty Fortelka. Darcie is survived by her children Brandon Wright (Sam Bump) and Casey Wright (Steven Yager) both residing in Hoxeyville, her brother Kim (Karen) Fortelka of Harrietta, her sisters Carla Raymond of Ravenna, and Angela (Tom) Phillips of Hoxeyville as well as nieces and nephews spread across northern Michigan and the country.
