David Carl Hull

David Carl Hull of Cadillac died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. He was 85. He was born December 17, 1925 in Cadillac to Pearl Ernest & Tina Marie (McClain) Hull and they preceded him in death. David proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the supply ship USS Goodhue. He was a deck gunner who saw battle in the South Pacific near Okinawa and the Philippines and was awarded the Purple Heart. He attended Goodhue Ship Reunions for several years until travel became to difficult. He had been employed at Kysor Industries for 44 years as a welder and then as head of maintenance and retired in the early 1990\'s. David was one of the original members and founders of the Wexford Community Credit Union. He enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, reading, tinkering with cars, and helping others. His faith and fellowship with friends at First Baptist Church in Cadillac was very important to him. On April 21, 1946 in Cadillac he married the former Bessie Joyce Yager and she survives him along with their daughter, Brenda (Brian) Wilson of Kalamazoo; 2 daughters-in-law: Barb Hofstra of Manton and Judy Gross Hull of Luther; 8 grandchildren: Ray Hull of Cadillac, Renee Hull Tulppo and husband Kevin of North Carolina, Liza Baker-Hull and husband Brandon of Portage, Karlie Hull of Cadillac, Jessie Hull Goslyn and husband Vince of Kentucky, Jonathan Wilson of Grand Rapids, Lindsay Wilson Lauwers and husband Andrew of Pennsylvania, and Patrick Wilson of Grand Rapids; 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Edna Loraine Hull, a brother, Delbert Hull and a son, Carl Gordon Hull. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 4, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Cadillac with Reverend David McMahon officiating. Burial will be at Selma Township Cemetery in Wexford County. Friends may meet the family Thursday from 5-8 PM at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
