David R. Kinter

David Richard Kinter of Cadillac (Formerly of Waterford, MI) went to be with his Lord Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Curry House Assisted Living in Cadillac. David was born on January 1, 1927 in Detroit to Walter & Ivy Kinter, who preceded him in death. He was 91 years old. He graduated from Clarkston High School and lived in the Waterford area most of his life, moving to Cadillac in 2015. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Kinter worked at General Motors, Truck and Coach Division, Pontiac, MI, as an inspector for 30 years, retiring in 1977. On February 14, 1953, he married Pearl Marie Thomas and she preceded him in death in 2001. He then married Gladys Finch in 2002 and she preceded him in death in 2003. Survivors include two daughters, Jean (Bruce) Brooks of Prescott, AZ and Darlene Fowler of Cadillac. Four grandchildren: Phillip Brooks of Prescott, AZ, Mark (Amie) Brooks of Flagstaff, AZ, Matthew (Hilary) Fowler of Macomb, MI, Kristin (Aaron) Blain of Norton Shores, MI. Four great grandchildren: Kaylee Brooks, Gavin Fowler, Isabel Blain, and Charlotte Blain and one sister, Patricia (Harvey) West of Hillman, MI and a nephew, Rick West of Virginia. David was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was a wonderful example of kindness, patience and integrity. He never said a bad word about anyone. He was musically gifted and played trumpet in an Army band and a jazz band in the Detroit area through the 1940's and 50's. He also had a wonderful voice and sang in the church choir and quartets for many years. He loved to travel and take pictures of all the sights, especially mountains. Above all, he loved and trusted in the Lord and knew Jesus as his personal Savior. Heaven is now his eternal home. The family wishes to thank the devoted caregivers and staff at the Curry House Assisted Living for the tender-loving care given to David while he resided there and to Hospice of Michigan who helped to make his last days comfortable. . No services are planned. David will be honored by his family at a private memorial gathering. Burial will take place at Crescent Hills Cemetery in Waterford, Michigan.
