George Thomas Steinhour

On July 1, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, Cadillac, MI with his loving family by his side, George Thomas Steinhour, left our arms and entered into his heavenly home. He was born January 3, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Russell B. & Edna R. (French) Steinhour. On September 15, 1951 in Toledo, Ohio, he married Martha Patricia Graham who was the love of his life. Over his lifetime, he held many jobs, including truck driver, Auto body man, mechanic and builder. His son Terry introduced him to Stained Glass and there he found his "Dream JobÃ¢â‚¬Â . He loved to create beauty with his stained glass designs. His living legacy is in many area and Texas churches. He owned and operated the Barnhaus Enterprises in Mesick. After being a "Winter TexanÃ¢â‚¬Â for many years, they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where he worked as a maintenance supervisor at Puente Vista Condominiums on North Padre Island. In 2012, they retired and moved back to Cadillac to be near family and enjoy life. He deeply loved his wife and family and was enjoying spending his time with them, doing gardening, working on his "honey doÃ¢â‚¬Â list and reading and creating his stained glass masterpieces. He will be deeply missed by all who shared his life including his beloved wife of 62 years, Martha, daughter, Rene' Steinhour (James Bailey), son Terry & Cathy (Saffer) Steinhour, he was Papa to 11 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granddaughter. He was predeceased by his daughter, Patrice Lynn Steinhour in 2011and a grandson Dale Nathan Maxwell in 1998. He was an only child but he was loved and considered family by so many of the people he met throughout his life because of his huge heart and love of people. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 4:00 pm at United Methodist Church of Cadillac, 1020 E. Division Street, with Reverend Tom Ball and Parish Assistant Judy Coffey officiating. Visitation will be from 3-4 pm at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in memory of his daughter and grandson. Arrangements were made by the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
