Georgia Marie Hamill

Georgia Marie Hamill was called home at the age of 88 on July 6, 2015 at Curry House Assisted Living. Heaven has now gained a new angel. She was born to John and Agnes Jelinek on August 14, 1926 in Coffee Creek, Montana. She married Elmer Hamill on May 26, 1945. They enjoyed their life together for 58 years. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2003 shortly after moving to Cadillac. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers Edward and Jack (Jean) Jelinek. Georgia was an active part of her community in Wolf Point, Montana where she enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, hosting dinner parties, singing in the church choir and teaching Sunday school at the First Presbyterian Church of Wolf Point. For 22 years she worked as a dental assistant and also was an active member of Eastern Star and Lady Elks Auxiliary. She and Elmer held many roles/positions in their local as well as statewide Elks Club. Georgia was very talented in knitting and crocheting. She has left her family with many pieces of her work to cherish for years to come. For the 13 years she lived in Cadillac she made many new friends. People were naturally drawn to her. She attended the First Presbyterian Church of Cadillac until it became too difficult for her. But she loved looking over the weekly bulletins and hearing about the services. She leaves behind a family that loved and adored her: Daughter Cindy (Van) Eldridge of Cadillac, MI; Son Terry (Lois) Hamill of Verona, WI; Very special Grandchildren Melissa (Curtis) Schultz of Cadillac; Angelique (Brian) Horst of Archbold, OH; Jennifer (Nathan) Thomsen of Tustin, MI; Great Grandchildren Chase Schultz, Lauren Horst, Anna Horst, and Blake Thomsen. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 1:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Cadillac. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Cadillac, 221 East Harris Street, Cadillac, MI 49601 or Hospice of Michigan, 932 North Mitchell Street, Cadillac, MI 49601.
